Here is my gripe, immortalized on the Stuffopolis servers: Electronic Catch Phrase IS hot potato.
It does not matter if you get more words right than the other team. It does not matter if your descriptions are better or your team sharp as tacks. What matters is that you get your team to guess the word just before the buzzer so you can throw it in the next person's lap with two seconds to go.
I will admit that there's a certain thrill to playing hot potato. It's the same thrill as playing that crocodile dentist game where you pull out teeth or the pop-up pirate game where you shove swords in a barrel...or musical chairs.
Why not play Taboo instead? Taboo is a word-describing team guessing game. You can play it with more than two teams. It has the added brainy element of forbidden words. Why not play that instead of hot potato, er...Catch Phrase?
