I liked Nick Frost as Simon Pegg's sidekick in Spaced, so I figured I'd give this a go. Bad move.
The basic idea: a TV version of those recent series of "worst case survival handbooks". Not a bad idea, could be fun, right? As implemented, no, it's just not funny, and more than that, it was painful to watch. I actually didn't finish it.
Any clue as to what went wrong? It seemed to me that Nick was the off-kilter sidekick (which he was in Spaced), but without any main structure to play off of. I suppose that he could have played off of the experts featured in each segment (a la the Daily Show), but most of the time, it seems that he's not even paying attention to them (exception: the Zombie segment which features...Simon Pegg). Without anything to temper the quirkiness, the entire thing quickly goes from weird to annoying.
Sorry Nick. I gave it a go, but it just didn't work.
